IgG Antibody test for SARS-COV2

An aid to identifying individuals' adaptive immune response to Covid-19 virus infections by ruling out the presence/absence of antibodies - indicating recent or prior infections. The test is based on ELISA and is conducted using an ICMR approved Kit with established SOPs & experienced staff.

How is the test helpful?

IgG serves as an indicator of previous infection. IgG antibodies are generally produced within 7- 10 days after the onset of infection and remain in the blood for a few months. These antibodies detect that you might have had a recent infection and have developed antibodies against the virus.

When is the test recommended?

  • Post COVID-19 recovery.
  • Post travel to or stay in a COVID-19 hotspot.
  • Post close contact with a suspected or confirmed patient.
  • Your doctor or you suspect you may have been exposed to the virus.
  • Post vaccination to check for efficacy.

What does a positive result indicate?

A person may have had COVID-19 infection weeks to months before the test is done, and may have immunity to the virus.

Note: This test cannot be used as a diagnostic test for Covid -19.
