Complete Blood Profiling Test (CBP) or Hemogram
A Complete Blood Profile (CBP) — also called a Hemogram or Complete Blood Count (CBC) — is one of the most commonly ordered blood tests in medicine. It is a routine screening test used for early detection or diagnosis of a wide range of conditions affecting the blood cells (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets).
What Does a CBP Measure?
Red Blood Cells (RBCs) — carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body; low RBC count or haemoglobin indicates anaemia
Haemoglobin (Hb) — the protein in RBCs that carries oxygen; a key indicator of anaemia and overall blood health
Haematocrit (HCT) — the proportion of blood volume occupied by RBCs
White Blood Cells (WBCs) — the immune system’s soldiers; elevated WBC count may indicate infection, inflammation, or immune disorders
WBC differential — breaks down WBCs into subtypes (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), each with different immune functions
Platelets — tiny blood cells that help the body form clots to stop bleeding; low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) can cause excessive bleeding
Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV) — the average size of RBCs; helps classify the type of anaemia
