COVID-19 and Rains: Preparing for the New Normal
By Anu Acharya, CEO, MapmyGenome
After a long, parched summer, we all look forward to the rains. But this year, we have been trying to contend with a new threat — COVID-19. What happens during the monsoon season? Are we likely to see a rise in cases? As we strive to reclaim our workspaces, will the monsoon bring in more than flooded roads and traffic jams?
Building Immunity
With the relaxation in lockdown and the onset of monsoon, now is the time to redouble our efforts to build immunity. Here’s how:
Ensure optimum nutrition — eat healthy and ensure that your families and domestic workers eat healthy too
Use supplements — vitamins and minerals are known to build immunity; consult with a nutritionist if required
Fitness — adopt indoor fitness routines; use appropriate sanitisation techniques at the gym
Sleep — get adequate sleep; nothing relaxes us better than a good night’s rest
Manage stress — adrenaline and cortisol can wreak havoc on the healthiest of bodies; meditate, chill, avoid stress
Welcoming the Next Normal
Follow the rules — social distancing and masks are mandatory; follow them to stay safe and prevent the spread
Constant vigilance — know yourself, monitor yourself, protect yourself
Beyond the self — wear the mask when you step out, even if it is inconvenient; it’s about your team members, family, and everyone you come in contact with
When in doubt, sanitise — sanitise surfaces, hands, and shared spaces regularly
